Barbarian Alien A SciFi Alien Romance Ice Planet Barbarians Book 2 eBook Ruby Dixon

Barbarian Alien is book two in the Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon. Here we have Liz and Raahosh story.

The world and characters Ms. Dixon has created are fascinating. Each character is unique and you can connect to them. I like the dual-POV’s. They help give us both Liz and Raahosh perspective.

We have a couple here who need to work on their communication. Raahosh is not a talker and Liz, well she talks too much. Raahosh has some deep wounds in his soul that need healing. Having a mate gives him that chance to finally heal and have a family, but it doesn't come easily. Liz puts up a fight.

The one thing I really didn’t like was Liz’s treatment of Raahosh. I dislike a heroine who will smack a hero. I get that she is frustrated with her situation and that many if not all of her choices have been taken away from her, but to treat Raahosh the way she does with her actions and words, was disappointing. It made me dislike Liz.

Finally around the 35% range Liz has a revelation and gets her ass in gear. She apologizes and gives him a chance and starts to learn about the world. Once they progress, I finally fell into the story. They have a few challenges to get through with the tribe; before they can be together. It’s sad, sweet, and sexy.

I’m very much enjoying this Sci-Fi Romance series. Even though Barbarian Alien was not at the top of my list in this series. I still enjoyed it enough to go out and buy the next book. All the characters have enthralled me.

Barbarian Alien A SciFi Alien Romance Ice Planet Barbarians Book 2 eBook Ruby Dixon Reviews

While I TOTALLY get where Liz was coming from with her desire to be seen as more than just a baby-making machine and to be asked what she wanted, I also completely felt for Raahosh and his not-very-sociable self. He has no clue how to treat a woman (especially one like Liz) and he doesn't quite know how to handle her independence.

Actually, he likes her independence and her willingness to stand up to him. He's just not very good about expressing himself. The language barrier doesn't help either. When Liz uses slang he has to try to figure out what she's getting at. Sometimes with hilarious results.

These barbarians have a lot to learn about human women and watching the fallout tickles my funny bone. Between the urge to mate with their chosen lady and the sass these women can dish out, there's plenty of misunderstandings--and sexy times--to come.

I'm kinda excited about that!

Micro Review! I think I get too wordy when I write book reviews so I am trying this Micro Review from Tumblr.

Author and Title? Ruby Dixon’s BARBARIAN ALIEN, second book in the ICE PLANET BARBARIANS series

What made you pick it up? The first book in the series was so good and this book is Outer Space Beauty and the Beast. I had to read it. And I have had to reread it. It has become one of those books I go to when I need a pick me up because I like the characters so much.

Was it what you expected? Yes. For a sweet smutty book about a big blue alien adorable grumpy cat and his Queen of Sarcasm, it is wonderful. This is my third time to reread it.

Would you read the sequel? I am in the process of rereading its sequel. The only thing stopping me from finishing is I want to write a quick book review for this smutty, sweet Beauty and the Beast in a galaxy far far away novel. Whenever Ruby Dixon pops out a Ice Planet Barbarian book I turn into Fry from Futurama-Shut up and Take My Money. I am about a dozen books behind but that doesn't stop me from buying the books. I love these characters. It would probably help if I didn't try to read the whole series every time I get in the mood for science fiction romances and/or Ice Planet Barbarians.

This book is Beauty and the Beast in Outer Space. All our aliens are big blue with horns, ridges and a tail. However our hero Raahosh is scarred on his face and is missing a horn. He thought he was going to be alone forever. ( He was a virgin!) I don’t know if Liz would be described as a beauty but she is pure spitfire, independent and strong.
The story picks up at the beginning of the last chapter of Ice Planet Barbarians, and retells the rescue part of the story from Liz's and Raahosh's points of view. Ruby Dixon does a fantastic job at keeping the narration from the different characters distinctly different from each other. She doesn't slip into the third person as so many other writers who attempt this difficult form of narration often do. I never had to backtrack to see who was telling the story; the characters remained true.

Liz and Raahosh are not as immediately likable as Georgie and Vektal, Some may be put off (especially by Liz) at first. As is so often the case in real life, just give them time. Eventually it will become clear why they act the way they do, and they should win you over. These are more complex characters than your everyday romance hero and heroine- get over it. It blows my mind sometimes the very narrow requirements some readers have for the H/h. This book should make the people who want a strong female leading character and a sexually inexperienced male very happy.

As with IPB, Barbarian Alien is a steamy read. If you don't like that sort of thing, do not read this book. The sex scenes are well written and enhance the plot (rather than being the whole plot). It should also be noted that Liz has a foul mouth. If profanity bothers you, this book is not for you. Raahosh has a much more poetic soul, which is reflected in his narrative. It is also amusing to watch the two try to communicate with his knowledge of Colonial English and Liz's 21st century cultural reference laden speech, dominated by colloquialisms, idioms, epithets and euphemisms that make no sense to poor Raahosh.
